Our Founder
Dr. E. Sreedharan is a retired Indian Engineering Service officer who is popularly known as the Metro Man of India. He changed the face of public transport by building the Konkan Railways and the Delhi Metro. He also served as the Managing Director of the Delhi Metro from 1995-2012.
In 1964, he executed the restoration work of the cyclone damaged Pamban Bridge in Tamil Nadu in just 46 days with his focused and determined attitude. His extraordinary ability to finish work with complete zeal and devotion was proved when he fulfilled the responsibility of implementing, planning and designing the Kolkata Metro in 1970.
He is involved in public life enthusiastically and always aims at serving the nation. For his achievements, he was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008 by the Government of India. He was awarded Chevalier de la Legion d’honneur (the highest French order for military and civil merits) in 2005. He was also named as one of Asia’s Heroes by TIME Magazine in 2003.
He regularly reads the Bhagwat Gita and tries to imbibe its teachings in his professional as well as personal life. Known for his efficiency, discipline, and uncompromising work ethic, he continues to advise the government on metro and rail projects.
